Facing the Facts

So this week I have come to a couple of realizations. First of all, you can't force anyone to poop! Marley is a very headstrong little girl. I love that about her! I love when I walk into nursery and she's off doing her own thing, while the other kids are all doing something else. It is great that she recognizes what makes her happy, and that she'll stop at nothing to do it! It is a wonderful quality to possess as an adult, however, it is a very trying quality for the parents of a preschooler.
I'm sure I have traumatized the poor girl by now with my pleas to go poop on the potty. But she refuses to be forced, tricked, bribed or guilted into going. So here's what I've decided:
1. I'm done buying diapers.
2. I'm done pressuring her to go.
3. I'm done dealing with it at all!
I've decided to let Ben take over before I stress myself into premature labor over this. She NEVER has wet accidents, not even at night. So, she's wearing panties all the time. I'm leaving it to Ben to remind her to go, before he goes to work. As far as the BM's are concerned, I'm going to let her do it in her panties. But when she does go, it's now her problem to clean it up. I supervise of course, but she has to clean herself up. No more tantrums on my part, no more bribing, or pleading, I'm DONE! Sooner or later, she will get tired of cleaning it up, and will do it in the toilet. If she doesn't, I'm sure after the first couple of times of doing it in Kindergarten and getting an embarrassing nickname that will stay with her through her senior year of high school, she will decide it's time. If she doesn't, at least we don't have to worry about boys when she reaches dating age.
